December

 December 1st

Mostly knitting today, I have finished the other blanket not sure who will be getting it yet, as Pam (Sister in Law) has asked for something else. She did not know I was making it for her.

I feel very tired today and a lot of pain too. My FACIAL NEURALGIA is playing up. I even took extra TEGRETOL but that did little to help. I do not usually take more than I am prescribed, as it makes me feel very far away. The pain will go, then come back, part of my life unfortunately.

4th

Cleaning up down stairs today. I feel quite a bit better, still headache, like the sort where you have bumped your head quite hard and feel a lump there.

6th

Going shopping to get some presents for Christmas as not really got much yet. Did good I think, got quite a few different things. We bought Luna a double raised dish set. I have bean looking for one for a long time. The first time Luna used it, she just stood there looking at it then ate her tea as usual.

Smart new dish.

I am getting one for Rory as Mary wanted one too. Mary and me have decided not to buy each other Christmas presents this year. She did not say Luna could not buy Rory one though.

7th

Would have bean my Dad's Birthday today- 102 years old. He passed away 2005 after a stroke brought on I think, by ill treatment in hospital after a broken hip. My Brother actually took him home out of hospital because of his treatment by the Nurses and other staff. My Mum only passed away less than eight weeks ago and he was grieving.

8th

Got a few more Christmas presents, doing quite well.

I went to the IA dinner, I do not usually go as very noisy but this time with it being Christmas I went. The last time I attended was last Christmas. The meal went good but the noise was quite loud and my head was pounding, and I was shaking at times. I did enjoy it though, RSD is not a social animal so I am very limited to things like this. Head pain returned with vengeance later.

9th

I phoned my Daughter today and she told me Tommy-Lee my Grandson, (who had an accident on his electric bike when a car side swiped him knocking him off) is improving day by day. He got away with a broken collar bone, and bruising to ribs and ankles. Could have bean a lot worse, the car driver admitted it was all his fault and not Tommy-Lee's. I have lent him my wheelchair, and I think that  helps a bit. He is very sore and stiff, and in quite a bit of pain too. Get better soon Tommy-Lee.

11th

Cleaning upstairs today, I started yesterday but only got so much done so finishing off today.

Head pain seems a little better than it was, but I spoke too soon as it returned later. I think the cold air makes it worse. Pilates tomorrow that if I go, I would like too but it depends how I feel, as it's a ten mile round trip. My wrist hurts quite a bit today as well. I think its using the vacuum cleaner or, knitting more than usual, to try to get the presents done.

12th

I did not go to Pilates as thick fog. Later in the day went into town and got quite a few presents. Lucky I did not go to Pilates as my friend Ness a ex neighbour came round. Good to see her as bean a long time. A cup of tea and chat, catch up on the street talk. The Family moved to help her Mother out. I used to look after Emmie and Ben a lot of the time, that family. They all miss the street a lot, as there has bean trouble with the snotty neighbours next door she said. Her garden here, was enclosed so it did not matter what they all did or did not do. No one complained, not like where she is now. Ness said it like the close where they live belongs to the neighbour and she controls it.

13th

Trying to get my year old Great-grandsons hoodie done, there has bean a lot of parcels and things for other people so I have bean up and down all the time. Later on night time I did finish it, so now on to Andrews one which will take a lot longer of course.

My friend gave a homeless man some money and a hot pie. She hardly has enough money for her self, let alone giving it away. I was quite touched, well done. The man has now moved on.

14th

Walk on the common with Mary and Rory Luna did enjoy seeing him and Mary of course.

In town to get a few bits I saw last time and had to think about as presents. Did well again and got quite a lot of things. The queues were very long and it was packed every where. That's what you get by going on a Saturday.

15th

Walk with Debbie and her dog Kipling today. A lot warmer too 11C at ten thirty 4C yesterday. I still put on Luna's jacket as it keeps her dry as well as warm. The common is quite wet at the moment and if she goes off the tracks with Rory she can get very mucky and wet.

16th

At last a bright sunny day as its bean dull and mostly raining. Washing out as well which is always nice I think. A lot of people do not put washing out at all using a tumble dryer instead. I use one but only for finishing off things when nearly dry

I feel exhausted at the moment drained and so tired.  I have done a lot more shopping trips and shopping with Paul too. Going today to hopefully finish off the Christmas shopping.  Yep I think that's it for me all done. Washing dried quite well. A sit down now and rest a bit before starting the tea.

19th

Up a bit earlier so I can go to Pilates. On the common soon after eight. This gives me time after the walk  to spend time with Luna I go around ten fifteen. Every thing going well Luna does not like being on her own so  I give her lots of love and kisses never enough for her.

I set off for Pilates- I push my bike to the crossing then after crossing the road, ride it. When I got on it the chain was off, OH NO. Tried to put it back on but would not go with the chain guard on. Got my tools and took it off I managed to do it getting oil all over gloves, I kept them on as I thought it would not get as much on my handle grips. Very cold and bitter wind I was freezing. I hoped I could get a hot drink when I got there as there is a kitchen in the hall. I was so cold I felt sick and shaky. Parked up my bike near the door and peered through should have bean a class in there-- no one, they must have packed up last week. Nothing for it to ride back I thought it was cold going, even colder going back. Head strong wind. I got home hardly able to open the door. Luna stood there going mad to see me. Pulled my bike in and got a towel for my hands (I have RAINARDS) and sat with Luna on my knee. Got a hot drink and slowly thawed out.

I later rung Jo, Pilates teacher and she apologised  to me saying they closed last week. She did not think I would  be coming as not there for the last two weeks. I said it was ok I should have checked. Never mind all good now and I am warm now but still a bit shaky.

Later in the afternoon Paul and I went to see my friend Angela as its her Birthday tomorrow. She is doing quite well after a fall at her Brothers house in the Summer. Stayed a while and went dropping off presents at relations. We had chips and curry for tea from the chippie. Very nice too, ages since I have had some.

20th

Happy Birthday Angela hope you have a good day. Her Brother is there with his dog so a bit different for her.

A bit of a rest day today, just sorting out a few things. The cake I made for Angela's Brother he loved very much, and he sent me a card and a thank you.

Luna put on the little Santa suit that Summer used to wear, Luna did wear it last year as well. She loved it today and growled when I tried to take it off. She did look very sweet in it.

So cute.

22nd

More present, taking the the countryside ones out today. Happy Birthday to my sister in law Bev, she got the other knitted blanket which she was amazed by, and said how long did it take you? I said ages also I knitted another one as well. My Brother did not believe I had made it to start with. No picture of blanket as got wrapped up be I had chance to take one. Very much the same as the last one, bit different colour that's all.Very tired when we got back. At least now it's all done, just the cakes to do and a few bits. Oh also Paul's presents and Luna's to wrap that will probably be the early hours  of Christmas day.

23rd

Looking after Andy's cats for the week, he only really has one but a stray comes in for food. He has a cat flap so he comes and goes as he wants. I do not usually see him and I go in twice a day.

Made all the little cake and mince pies, cornflakes ones tomorrow.

Went to see Molly and Cory my Great grandson who is so like his Dad Jay-Jay.  No pictures this time.

24th

Cleaning up, and corn flake cakes done. I gave Mary the dish I got for Rory, same as Luna's.She liked it very much and tried to pay me for it. I said NO it's a present for him from Luna.  We had a visit from Mary's Grandson, who usually lives in South Africa. He is staying at Mary's, coming from London where he now works. Him and Andrew had a good chat and he played a bit with Luna, who he had not seen be for.

I wrapped up Paul's Presents and Luna's after Paul had gone to bed.

25th

Merry Christmas to everyone. Christmas dinner for the three of us is going to be night time seven to eight o clock, or so I thought. At the start of cooking the food the oven would not light. So I took the tray of meat out so I could see the flames. All good now, went and sat down to try and finish the hoodie jumper I am knitting. Around an hour or more later Andrew came in and said, are you not putting the meat in then. I said it's in- no I had left it on the top of the oven. Oh dear Christmas dinner will be very late as it was seven then. We ate around eight forty five, it was good though. Paul moaned a bit but at least the oven worked.

Undid presents thought out the day. Luna did hers as well eating three chews, I wrapped them so it was  easy for her to open Left alone she would have had them all. She still ate her tea though.

Undoing  her chew.

This is Sheepie her bedtime toy.

Sheepie- I think he is so cute.

Luna's new toy.

A new toy she got from David and Bev, Brother and Sister in law. She loves this and spent a long time playing with it. She laid on her back but as soon as I tried to take a picture she moved.

26th

Today Lindsay and her family, plus Tracy (friend of Lindsay and us) who is really family as well, are here for tea. Not sure if Jay-Jay will be here or not. We exchanged presents and just had a bit of fun. Lovely blanket/throw from Tommy-Lee and Kira, beautiful. All the other present were lovely as well. A really good day.

27th

Today Wayne and Kayleigh are here for a few days to celebrate Christmas with us. So that will be good, not seen them since July.  They arrived mid afternoon, Paul picked them up from Newark train station. They are staying in a hotel quite close by. We exchanged presents, Lindsay and Jamie-Lee were coming, but Lindsay did not feel to good. So hopefully here tomorrow. Wayne and Kayleigh do not go back till Monday.

So very tired now- please leave me alone.

28th

Jay-jay (Grandson) and Cory-James gave us a surprise visit. Molly (Cory-James's Mum) arrived a bit later with Lindsay and Jamie-Lee.  Cory-James will be two on May 6th.

She played with Cory quite a bit but still is a bit scared of him.

29th

Wayne and Kayleigh went with Paul to see his parents.

Gave Luna her ball that Rory gave her as a Christmas present. She was unsure to start but soon realised there were treats hidden in it. She did at one point give it a good shake and a few fell out. This kept her amuse and happy for quite a while.

Her new ball.

Having a good time.

Well thats my Blog for December and all for this year. I am looking forward to 2025. Hopefully I will get out more and have some good days. All the best to everyone and I will see you next year Love Gill and Luna.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas lots of love from Me and Luna.

November.

November 3rd

Nice walk on the common not cold today 11C, Paul said it was cold and put the heating on, so when I came in from off the common it was too hot for me.

Tonight everyone except me and Andrew are going to the fireworks at the football ground. I can not go as its just too noisy, and the brightness of the fire works is just too much for me. (Can cause SEIZURES)  Andrew and me will go down to the bridge, that Luna and use every day to go to the common. A good place to watch for free. The fireworks were good but very loud even from where we were. We could see the football ground from the bridge so not that far away. They must have bean so loud near to the launch site. Nice to see Lindsay, Jamie- Lee , Tommy-Lee, Kira. Jay-Jay did not go in the end neither did Paul. He said he did not feel too good.

4th

Awoke early with leg pain, legs and feet were ice cold. I had on bed socks as well.

Walked around the common with our next door neighbour Katie and her two dogs Billy and Archie I think  he is called. Archie is still only a pup but still as big as Luna if not bigger. Nice walk with them. The dogs were playing together and having fun. Billy is still a young dog as well around four years old.

5th

Finished off cleaning the computer room all upstairs done now. More knitting later. Quite tired today but I have bean quite busy the last few weeks.

6th

The man came to sort  settee bracket got it done so all's good.

In town today to get a few bits plus Birthday cards. I get them a few months ahead so here all ready for the Birthday.

When I got back Lindsay and Jamie-Lee were here. Jamie-Lee was going bowling later with her school but did not seem very keen. (She did go in the end and had a good time.)

8th

Made the first Christmas cake today, I only have two to make this year. My friend Angela asked me to make one as a gift for her Brother. All went well. The kitchen smelt lovely as well.

9th

Today I thought I was going to have a rest day, but I started doing bits in the garden pruning and pulling up dead bits. There was a lot of rubbish and filled up the green bin. The garden looks so much better now.

More knitting night time down to less than two hundred stiches now, its a corner to corner blanket that starts off with two stitches then increase to the width you want, then decrease down to two again. This one was well over three hundred stitches. When finished will look very good. Picture when all done. I know this is going to be a big blanket.

12th

Today I was supposed to see Mr Corbin at the hospital about my wrist, but it was cancelled till February next year. I know the NHS is over run but I have not even  got the results from my MRI scan I had August 31st. Now over a year since I broke my wrist July 2023.

Lots of jobs today including ironing in the morning.  Second Christmas cake done. Bit more knitting of the blanket, at last it is finished. The blanket was a double one. Now what ?? start another one for a present also. I have a jumper to knit and a jacket for a baby too.

Blanket turned out good I think.

13th

A sunny day and quite warm too. Luna and I saw a mother deer on the common she was not scared at all and just stood looking at us. I held Luna' harness so she did not run towards it. I think Luna was a little scared of her. A few days ago we saw a very large hare a lot bigger than Luna.

I have started the other blanket going well. A lot less stitches at the moment but not for long.

Wayne my son and Kayleigh his partner have gone to Florida, Disney land for a few days. A bit warmer there.

14th

Pilates today quite a hard session too, but I enjoyed it. Paul gave me a lift there and back.

15th

Finished off the Spring cleaning of the kitchen cupboards. All tidy and clean now.

Bit more knitting of blanket still going well. Very tired today, a headache too like a pressure one. Hopefully it will go soon.

16th

I marzipan the cakes to day, then next week some time I will ice them both. Night time I watched a DVD in the front room with Andrew. A House one with Hugh Lourie, which we used to watch all the time. We both enjoyed it.

18th

Cleaning down stairs today Only got the dinning room done, rest will be done tomorrow. Took a long time, I think I was tired.

Went in the afternoon to see a friend who I have know over forty five years, We met in hospital when I had Wayne, and she had her son David. Bean friends ever since, but do not see each other as much now Birthday's mostly. A good visit her husband was there as well. Always nice to talk to him.

Later, night time we had snow quite a bit, around three inches by morning.

Our garden at night.

19th

The snow looks very nice the sun is shinning too. Luna enjoyed the snow, running around and jumping in the deep bits. She saw a bit of snow last year but was only a baby then.

Kipling - my friend Debbie's dog.

All from bedroom window, next doors garden.
Girl at the park.

All at the park.
My foot prints.

Luna on the common with her little coat on she had last year. Still fits her fine.

Kipling again.

20th

I think today was the coldest one so far. The wind was bitter cold, the temperature said 1C but with the wind factor  -2C. Snow about the same as yesterday but a bit cruncher because of last night frost. A good walk on the common though. Luna had fun again but we did not see any of her friends.

21st

Snow still hanging on and feeling very crispy after a sharp over night frost. Very cold as well wind bitter again. A lovely walk with Mary and Rory her dog. They were playing together running after each other. Rory does not always play as he is getting on a bit, around twelve, he prefers to explore instead.

Later I iced the Christmas cakes both look good.

Angela Brothers cake is the sheep one as he lives in Wales. Just a bit of fun. I think he will like it.

23rd

Very blustery wind and cold on the common, a storm coming across from America, called Bert. Luna was chasing the leaves that were flying around.  One just looked like a bird going very fast. Luna set off  to chase it like she does with a lot of birds. The wind slightly dropped and the leaf fell to the ground. she looked at me very confused.

When we got back from the common Paul and I sorted out the big cupboard opposite the back door. This holds loads of stuff from crockey, kitchen stuff, bathroom things, cleaning extras, to Luna's food plus the two mop buckets and much more.

Knock at the door, and there was Jenny my friend. She had her hair done just down the road, so called in on the off chance. I am rarely out apart from the common and occasionally in town. Lovely to see her, as last time she was not well and unable to have her hair done and come here.

Most of snow gone now as rained quite heavy today and over night.

Paul went to football and I sorted out the things to get rid off from the big cupboard. Some for the bin, some charity, some for my Daughter if she wants them. Then a bit more knitting of the blanket two.

24th

What has gone wrong with the weather ?? 16C today -2 last Friday and that was in the morning while on the common, so strange. A rest day today not doing a lot. Trying to get done a bit more of the blanket. I am now decreasing as I have got it as wide as it needs to be. At one point three hundred and fifty stitches from starting with two increasing one stitch every row till wide enough then, decrease down to two again. A corner to corner blanket same as the last one I did I think this one might be a bit bigger.

26th

Cleaning up downstairs today. Quite warm as well with sunshine, that we have not seen for a few days. The plants I covered up to hope keep them from being killed with the frost, were fine. So while the sun was out I uncovered them they all looked good. Later I recovered them, so they are warm and protected  from any frost.

27th

A lot of ironing today, all Pauls things shirts and trousers. More knitting going well with the blanket down to two hundred stitches now. This was going to be for a Christmas present for my sister in law, but both her and Malc (husband) would like DVD box sets as presents. So not sure who will get it yet. Could save it for Pam for her Birthday next August. Someone will get it anyway it's so lovely as you will see from the picture when done and put up. I have bean doing a bit of an Aran jumper as well. This is going well too. A lot less stitches as well.

28th

A very cold start to the day some of the frost did not go at all. A cold wind as well. Not on the common till later so warmed up a bit and the sun was out too, but still very cold and the wind felt like ice.

Dentist check up later all good, I have a tooth that the back has crumbled. This is mostly down to the ALENDRONIC ACID I take for OSTEOPOROSIS. The dentist knows about the side effects of this drug so it was not too much of a surprise. This has happened about a year ago with a tooth close by to this one. She is to going to leave it and wait to see if I have any pain or other problems with it. Then it will be extracted if this happens. The tooth has bean like this a while so hopefully there will be no problems. Also two x-rays taken these were good and no damage to the roots just a bit of gum shrinkage the dentist said this was within normal range. Back in six months or sooner if any problems

After I did a bit of Christmas shopping and got a few bits for my Great Grandson. I did not realize that the Christmas lights were being switched on to night. The town centre was packed. So many of them light things on stalls that you can buy, the ones that flash all the time. They gave me a headache and can introduce SEIZURES, so I headed away from the town to the shops out the city centre getting a few more things, them home and passed yet even more of the flashy light stalls.

29th

Not a good night with pain started in my legs then spread upwards full body pain and spasms. This usually happens when I am cold but this was not the case quite hot in fact.

Not too cold to start with on the common, saw a few of Luna's friends, they had a good run around together.

Later just about to sort tea out when Lindsay turned up, Tommy-Lee my Grandson 18 years old had bean knocked off his electric bike by a car side swiping him. The car driver admitted it was his fault. Tommy-Lee has gone to hospital with possible broken arm or shoulder, also possible breaks to ankles and feet.Tommy-Lee's Dad has taken him. Quicker than waiting for an ambulance. Lindsay brought his bike here and then Paul took her to the hospital to be with Tommy-Lee.

Lincoln A and E is a joke and you wait hours to be seen then hours to get things done and no one seems to move from the waiting room. Tommy-Lee had bean seen but not since his X-rays. Hours later, six I think it was he was no wiser as no one seem to be qualified. Tired and angry they went home. They live close by, so if things get worse they can go back fairly quickly.

30th

Spoke to Lindsay this afternoon, and she said Tommy-Lee has got a broken collarbone bone but not sure about anything else, no one has contacted them yet. They searched for two hours for a sling last night at the hospital to put his arm in, then no one knew how to put it on. The Doctor came back and put Tommy-Lee arm in a sling fastened to his waist. The Doctor said someone more qualified will look at the Xrays and see what damage has bean done. Poor Tommy-Lee.

Bit of a mixed month, snow as well which was very nice. Me a bit up and down but on the whole not too bad. Poor Tommy-Lee not good but at least he had on his bike helmet. He told me he would wear it so I was pleased. I don't think he landed on his head at all but at least it was there if needed to protect him.

All the best to you all and hope things are all good with you. All the best Love Gill.
